The development of a new international cooperation between ECOWAS and Germany – the Regional Stabilisation through Development in fragile regions Fund – required a new Communications Strategy to reach all stakeholders and create platforms for information sharing. Through a process of Desk Research, Stakeholder Mapping, Situational Analysis and Development Workshops, a Strategy and Workplan were developed, creating a roadmap for implementation and recommendations for short, medium and long term engagement. Included was a specific plan for The Gambia Pilot Project, the first in what will be a series of development projects under the Fund umbrella. Advising on team structure, capacity building and workplan implementation including internal structures helped set the scene for effective working, and transparency across stakeholders through consultation meetings and feedback loops provided buy in and long term ownership. A branding and Identity guide worked to create a recognisable umbrella look for the Fund as it grows across the West African region.
